Framing Harmony - Rehearsals Begin

Yesterday, actual rehearsals began for Framing Harmony. It was interesting to see it in action. We still have a long way to go, but I am confident that we can make this an excellent show. Shawn said that he is going to have some posters made up with some photos of all the cast on them. I didn't get a shot with the whole cast this week, but will make sure to next week.

Chantal had the day off from work yesterday as she has found a new job starting today, so I asked her if she would like to come along to watch and help out filming the rehearsal, thank you Chantal and good luck on your first day. We are thinking of making a documentary of the production process just to play outside the room on the night.

We arrived to find everyone in Anna's office, but we soon got underway with warmups led by Anna (using her notes from class), then it was into the show. We ran out of time before we could get all the way through. I'm pretty sure it will run a lot faster and smoother once everyone has their lines down and we know what we're doing on stage, but I'm going to have a look at the script and see if there are any places I can cut down any unnecessary lines.

Thanks everyone for coming!

60's Flahback

This is just a reminder for everyone to raid their parent's music collection and bring along some music from the swingin' sixties, Anna can just raid her own collection :) Also for the actors, just have think about what songs you would possibly like to sing, preferably songs from around the 60s era, but it's not critical. Alternatively, you can write a song fitting in with your part and you can sing that.

Here are a few songs that may go well with the play. Any songs we don't use in the play we can put on as background music as the audience walks in, just to set the atmosphere a bit. If you can think of any more, you can post them in here in a comment or a new post.

The Beatles - All You Need is Love
The Monkees - Daydream Believer
Paul Simon - The Sound of Silence
The Beatles - Do You Want to Know a Secret?
The Monkees - I'm a Believer
The Beatles - Sexy Sadie
The Byrds - Turn! Turn! Turn!
The Beatles - All My Loving
The Beatles - I'm Looking Through You
The Kinks - Louie Louie
The Beatles - Good Day Sunshine
The Kinks - You Really Got Me
The Who - My Generation
The Troggs - Wild Thing
The Troggs - With A Girl Like You
Elvis Presley - All Shook Up
Buddy Holly - Everyday

Our next rehearsal in on Wednesday, 23rd June at 4:00pm. See you all there, except Beck who will be at the dentist. Best of luck!

Framing Harmony - Second Meeting

Yesterday was our second meeting; it was good to see so many show up. With us was: Shawn, April, Elyse, Beck, Alyssa, Anna, Danika and myself and we all had a great time. We went through the play again for anyone new to get an idea of what it is about and we also came up with heaps more good ideas for the show.

Shawn was very kind and got us all some drinks as well as we were all very thirsty, thanks Shawn!

Framing Harmony - First Meeting

Last week was our first meeting for Spaced Out Productions' next performance Framing Harmony which is to be shown at this year's ACU Alive cultural festival in August.

I saw Shawn coming down the stairs when I arrived and we went to the drama studio. April and Elyse turned up not long afterwards. We read through what I had done of the script and discussed possible songs and assigned roles for people where we could.
